BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

BORN: May 27, 1923, Barbour County, Alabama.

PARENTS: Henrietta Austin Mark and Lenzy Mark

EDUCATIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Pittsview School - Alabama, Jones High School - Orlando, Florida. Further studied music at Rollins College of Winter Park, Florida. Mrs. Lyles taught piano from her home for many years.

OCCUPATIONS: Pianist for several churches in the area and was a housekeeper and child care provider for a local family until they relocated.

CHURCH AFFILIATION: At a very young age - Benevolent Missionary Baptist Church in Hooks, Alabama. She relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1946. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Winter Park and was a pianist and a Deaconess. In later years she joined Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a pianist, a Deaconess and for a number of years as President of the Sr. Mission Ministry. She dedicated her life to the work of this ministry locally, in the district and the state.

SURVIVORS: A loving son: Edmond Mack, Jr. (Janice), Orlando, Florida; devoted nephews: Lucious Brown (Janet), Columbus, Georgia; William Davis (Gloria), Stone Mountain, Georgia; and Tommy Davis (Dorothy), Atlanta, Georgia; brother: Milton Mark, Lima, Ohio; sisters: Hattie Johnson and Alberta Irons, Lima, Ohio; Elizabeth Peterson, Annie Mae Rump and Rosie B. Mark, Ft. Myers, Florida; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a vast host of relatives and friends, the Bethel Church family and the Winter Park community. Special recognition to her long time friends and companion Mr. Johnny Booker and confidante Mrs. Jakie P. Lawson.
