Deacons Family Ministry

The Deacons Family Ministry is a structured system for maintaining frequent contact with the membership to ensure that the needs of the members are cared for as we have been instructed in Acts Chapter 6. It is a plan through which the deacon can join the pastor in ministering to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each church member and family.

Under the Deacons Family Ministry, each member of Bethel (and family) is assigned to a Zone based on where the member lives (place of residence). At least one deacon is assigned to each zone, and will care for the members within his zone as summarized below.

The membership of Bethel has been divided into 4 Zones:

Zone 1 - Winter Park and Goldenrod area
Deacon Albert Anderson, Deacon John Chapman, (Deacon Keith Blanden, alternate)

Zone 2 - Eatonville and Maitland
Deacon Ben Fleming, Deacon David Pryor, (Deacon Charles Henry, alternate)

Zone 3 - Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Longwood, Lake Mary, Sanford, Winter Springs (Seminole County)
Deacon Keith Blanden and Deacon Willie Lowe

Zone 4 - Orlando
Deacon Charles Henry and Deacon Bernard Morris

Caring for Members through the Deacon's Family Ministry

  1. Maintain active watch-care over the membership.
  2. Visit each member at least two times a year, but maintain contact with each member monthly.
  3. Call to check on inactive members.
  4. Visit sick and shut-in members.
  5. Prompt follow-up with new members within the zone.
  6. Serve communion when requested or desired by any member within the zone.
  7. Be available to accompany the Pastor on regularly scheduled or emergency visits within the zone.
  8. Make monthly reports to the Deacon Ministry of family contacts, sick members, prayer opportunities, etc.
