REFLECTIONS OF LIFE
Emma Jane Humphries Martin was born to the late Harvey Humphries, Sr. and Mamie Simmons Humphries on August 11, 1928, in Orlando, Florida. She never met a stranger, but embraced everyone she met with love. She was a living testimony of Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Her mission was sheltering, feeding and clothing people in need. The true essence of her life was selfless giving.
Emma was married to the late Samuel Martin, for over fifty years. Emma and Sammy were loving and devoted parents and grandparents. They were especially proud of the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren. She also had a host of god-children whom she adored. As a long time resident of Winter Park, she shared her love and home freely with neighbors, friends and her church family. Her late husband Sammy often remarked that their home was the “house of good will.” Her final act of giving was sharing lemons from her tree with a friend.
