Sister Clayton, a seamstress, age 92 died in Winter Park, Florida on January 2, 2005 following a long illness.

She was born June 1, 1912, in Jewell, Georgia to the late St. John and Louella Dixon. She received her early education in Warrenton County. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sparta, Georgia.

Sister Clayton moved to Winter Park, Florida in 1939 and joined the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Here she served for many years as a member of the Choir and the Deaconess Ministry.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Russell T. Clayton on August 30, 1939. From this union, two children were born.

For seven years, she joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Deaconess Ministry. After the death of her husband, she returned to the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and served briefly on the Deaconess Ministry until her health began to fail.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter: Minister Dorothy M. Church, Winter Park, Florida, one son: Mr. McCathorn Clayton (Katherine), Decatur, Georgia; four sisters-in-law: Bernestine Collins (Frazier), Winter Park, Florida; Virginia Dixon, Eatonville, Florida; Charity Martin, Columbus, Georgia; and Gladys Clayton, Springfield, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Charles Clayton (Denise), LaSharon Clayton, McCathorn, Jr. (Kelli), Linda McKnight, Kervin Church (Lakia), Merrick V. Church (Rena) and Brandon Church (Bethenia); nineteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, seven nieces, six nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
