Christ Alive
Resurrection Day

Pastor K.T. TurnerResurrection Day Christ Alive ’07 Christians the world over will be celebrating what has to be one of the greatest events of History (HIS-Tory). The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is what sets the Christian Faith apart from all of the worlds religions. The central fact that Jesus did die an ignominious violent death on a hill call Calvary; He was buried vicariously in a borrowed grave. He arose victoriously on Resurrection Day Morning! That is the reason why we celebrate the Resurrection.

Jesus Christ’s Resurrection is the bedrock of the Christian Faith. Upon this rock everything that we believe rest upon the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Upon this rock Christianity stands or fails. By and large we have come to accept and believe that the “CROSS” of Jesus is the central vital symbol of Christianity; but the last word, if the final word of the Christian message is “DEATH,” Christianity has failed. We might as well close our hymnbooks, our bibles, silence our organs, vacate our Churches, turn out the lights and go home.

Why do I say this? Because if Jesus Christ was conquered by “DEATH,” we have NO Salvation! No Salvation to offer, no message to proclaim, no song to sing. A DEAD CHRIST decaying in a Judean tomb couldn’t help anyone. Thank God, this is not the case. Christ arose from the dead on the third day morning according to the scriptures. So to this end, this assures us of three essential important aspects of the Resurrection.

“For I Delivered unto you first of all that which I received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. And that He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve.” I Corinthians 15:3-5

First, Jesus Christ Resurrection assures me that he was and is the Son of the most High God as He is proclaimed. Secondly, His Resurrection assures me that my sin problem has been settled to God’s satisfaction and Thirdly, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ assures me that because He lives I shall live also. Let’s take a brief look at each of these assurances.

Assurance # 1 Jesus Christ is
the Son of God

First and foremost, Jesus Christ Resurrection assures me of the fact that Christ was and is the Son of the most High God Jehovah, and He is the SAVIOUR of men as He claimed. I do not know about you Bethel, but if I wake up from the dead, and discover that Jesus Christ was only the son of Joseph and Mary, I am in deep trouble. The reason that I am in trouble is because I am pinning all my hopes of heaven upon Him. If Christ is not there to save me to whom can I turn?

Christ asserted over and over again that He had come down from Heaven, that He was the Son of God and that He came to save all men and women from their sins, who placed their trust in Him. Quite frankly, I am depending on that. If Christ is whom He claimed to be, my FAITH is absolutely VALID. If He is not whom He claimed to be, my FAITH is VAIN.

The absolute proof of his Deity does not rest with His miraculous birth, with His wonderful teachings, with his wonderful works or with His absolutely Sin-less life. The absolute proof of His Deity rests entirely upon His Resurrection from the Dead. You can deny the facts of human history and say that Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead if you will; but once you admit He arose, you must admit that He is the Son of God.
