Virginia Mae Byers

Virginia Mae Byers, 66, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2003. She was born on February 14, 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Amos Byers, Sr. and Eliza Smith Byers.

She accepted Jesus Christ as a young child and was a former member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was a 1955 graduate of Atkins High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She was a faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Park. She loved her church, pastor and family. Virginia was especially proud and excited when she and her sons hosted the 21st Annual Byers-Smith Family Reunion.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Margaret B. Bitting, Tecora Byers, Joella B. Carpenter, Juanita Byers, Naomi B. Hooper, and Ruth Byers; one brother, Amos Byers, Jr., several nieces and nephews.

Virginia leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Danny Clay Byers, Dennis Mardine Byers, both of Winter Park, Florida; Donald Dale Smith of Orlando, Florida and Dwayne Vern Smith of Winter Park, Florida; one brother, Earl Byers of Winston-Salem, NC; nine grandchildren, Jasmine, Amber, Donald, Jr., Donovan, Dwayne, Jr., Carlos, Carissa and Kiarra; a special friend, Ms. Ruby and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
